Tips To Increase The Batery Life Of Your Notebook AKA Laptop
Okay honestly i am not an expert in the notebook but by my experience i woul sugget you to do the following things to improve your laptops battery life.
When Travelling
- Turn Down Your Screeen Brightness - Screen brightness is not a big deal yet it takes away a lot of battery power that can be put to better use (like playing games). This is very easy to do. All you’ll need to do in microsoft windows Vista is go to Control Panel–>Hardware & Sound–>Power Options and then on the left sidebar, click Adjust the display brightness. Here you can also tell the computer when to turn off the display and power off depending if you’re plugged in or not.
- Adjust the Computer Performance - Depending on what you’re doing while travelling, you might be able to sacrifice some performance to save some power. Microsoft Windows Vista has three plans that you can utilize: Power Saver, Balanced, and High Performance. I use Balanced most of the time, but there are times when I use the other two. You can tailor each of these plans to best suit your needs, but the one you should be focusing on is the Power Saver. Configure it so you’re using the least you can.
- If you have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, turn it off. In most cases, you don’t need either of these because we have the Blackberry/Apple iPhone to do quick checks of email and such. It can be a real energy saver and can be as easy as flicking a switch off.
- One secret a lot of people don’t know or might know and not really act on it, is the fact that the CD/DVD drive takes much more power then if you download and watch it directly. Now I’m not encouraging downloading from illegal sources, what I’m saying is you should take this into consideration when you go on your next trip.
New Lease on Life
The reason my laptop has very little battery life is I now have it plugged in 24/7. This destroys the laptop battery and speeds up the process of aging because then the battery doesn’t have the chance to discharge so it loses it’s ability to hold a charge.
A way to prevent this from happening is when you have your laptop plugged in all the time you remove the battery as it is not needed. When you hit the road, make sure to put it back in as well as double checking the battery is still charged.

7 Tips To Unblock Blocked Sites
You might want to access to Facebook, MySpace, Bebo at you school and office but it's blocked!
This article suggests workarounds to help you gain access to all blocked sites either by your ISPs (Internet Service Providers), schools and office.
Here's are a few ways of gaining access to blocked sites.
1. Using IP Instead of URL
To access to blocked websites, simply type in your IP address in your browser address bar instead of the URL. To find the IP address, open 'cmd', type in 'ping domain' command and hit enter. Alternatively, you can find it online using a free service such as WhatsMyIP.org.
2. Using a proxy website
How a proxy site works? Firstly, it connects users to targeted sites with a different IP address, hence hiding the users' original form from detectable. A proxy website helps users to bypass internet restrictions (such as web filters, firewalls etc) from ISPs, schools and offices to give you freedom online.
There are actually thousands of proxy sites unavailable in the Internet. However, today I am only going to list down three of the famous sites which I usually used.
4. URL Redirection Service
Here's another alternative way to access to blocked sites. Some sites such asTinyURL.com and SnipURL.com provides URL redirection service or also known short URL service. These sites converts them to a shorter URL, hence it might help you bypass the the settings.
5. Read the Web Via Email
Web2Mail.com is a free service which enables you to search the web by email. With this service, you can enter to a blocked site. For example, to search for "MySpace", simply send an email to www@web2mail.com with the subject "www.MySpace.com" in your email message. They uses a popular search engine to perform your search then reply to you with your search results, usually within 5 minutes.
6. Bypass Using Online Translation Tools
This method is very much similar to the web proxy. Online translation services such as Google Translate and Yahoo! BabelFish can do the work for you. Simply enter the URL (website that's blocked) under the 'Translate a Web Page', retranslate it and Google or BabelFish will fetch you the content.
7. Try an Anonymizer
An anonymizer is a tool that attempts to make activity on the Internet untraceable. It accesses the Internet on the user's behalf, protecting personal information by hiding the source computer's identifying information.
There are not many free services provided around but I managed to find one service that is absolutely free!
Not only Unblocked.org aims to bypass internet restrictions, it also acts as an online anonymous service which protects your identity and hides your IP, ISP and location so you remain anonymous to every website you visit!
HideMyAss.com hides your online identity and bypass your work/school web filter with ease. Moreover, they also offer free web proxy lists (IP:PORT) which are updated daily. This free proxy site helps you hide your ip and browse your favorite web sites secure even from behind firewalls or filters, whether you're at work, school, or college. Futhermore, RU00.com is powered by a fiber-optic 1000mbit multi-homed connection to the internet! 3. Google & Yahoo Cache A cache is a collection of data duplicating original values stored elsewhere or computed earlier. Hence, by entering the URL in Google and Yahoo search and clicking on the 'cached' link, you would be able to access any blocked sites you want.
4. URL Redirection Service
