Google Goes Musical With OneBox Music Service

nternet giant Google has already dominated the search marker, books, email and more but now they have taken a step further. The two words ‘music’ and ‘lyrics’ are amongst the top 10 search terms of all time on Google and they have decided to take advantage of this by entering the online music industry and and starting a currently US only service named OneBox which can assist users with finding and buying music online.
They have teamed up with Lala and iLike which is owned by MySpace and will allow it’s users to search for tracks using snippets of songs, song titles and song artists. This service will also allow you to listen to entire tracks online for free. An analyst from research firm Forrester, Mark Mulligen is concerned that this can be offering alternatives to illegal file-sharing users. As most of us probably already know BitTorrent is used all around the world by users to download music and movies for free.
“Just imagine if when a consumer searches for a song, alongside all of those Torrent results is a heavily integratated Google music offering.”
This is how it will work. When users search using OneBox it will come up with a pop-up widget offering to play the entire song for free using services like iLike and Lala. The results will also highlight information like tours and concerts the artist will be attending and other relevant information. It will also allow the user to buy the song.
Marissa Mayer, vice president of search at Google said “At Google, we see millions of music-related queries every day,” at the launch in Los Angeles.
“It is clear to us that for our users music holds a very special and particular place.
However, Apple are currently leading the market as they hold 70% of worldwide sales but in Europe, firms such as Spotify are also beginning to become popular. Google also wishes to have the same success as these companies.

Getting Bored with the Plain Background of Google Homepage?Mcsearcher Is To THe Rescue
The Google homepage is just too plain and simple and sometimes you might get bored with it when you used it regularly. It would be better if there are some background colors in it but I'm sure Google won't be doing that because it may affects the page load time.
McSearcher has came up with a brilliant tool whereby you can search Google using your own background pictures. Isn't that interesting?
To start personalizing your own and unique Google homepage, simply either upload an image from your computer or enter the image URL. Try to upload pictures that have a higher resolution because the image will fit automatically to your browser.
McSearcher will then redirects you to your customized Google homepage and you can start searching from there. By making it your hompage, simply click on the IE or Firefox icon located at the top right hand corner.

Have fun!

Try Flash Earth If Are Bored with Google Earth...

I know some may say that Google Earth is still the best. But sometimes you may get bored with it after playing with it for a while.
Let me introduce you a free online software known as Flash Earth. It is flash-based service which allows you to explore satellite and aerial imagery of the Earth via a zoomable map from several mapping services, including NASA, OpenAerialMap, OpenLayers, Microsoft Virtual Earth, Microsoft VE (labels), Yahoo! Maps and Ask.com Maps.
In the past, Flash Earth supports Google Maps. But currently I am not sure why it is being excluded from the list.
Although Flash Earth is not as powerful as Google Earth, but at least you are being exposed to different mapping sources to view aerial imagery of the Earth

Gizmodo has uncovered some leaked photo Google Android

The Google Android powered smartphones by HTC.
Their first attempt with mix, the HTC T-Mobile G1, didn't quite had the eye candyish stuff and get a big fan following. And even though Google announced an unlocked Android G1 around the 2008 holidays, people still preferred the iPhone 3G.
Gizmodo has uncovered some leaked photos of a new handset which appear to be quite authentic.
The first thing you would notice here is its shiny plastic finish, which is very much welcoming from the pale gray look on G1.
Also this time around there is not physical keyboard present, which is a little disappointing. Though the touchscreen is large, but we know the current Android interface had some issues.
The back side has a new surprise A 3.2 Mega Pixel camera, though even mid range phones for vendors like Nokia boast a 5.0 Mega Pixel camera these days. What would be interesting is the video capabilities of the G2 (if there are any).
The current rumors suggest that this handset would hit the shelves this summer though there are still no official announcement. What I would personally like to see is a prettier interface than the current one, but all we can do for now is wait for the official word on

Why Does Google need not to build an Operating System at all to Kill Microsoft?
The Mission of Chrome: Destroy the Microsoft Eco-system
It’s pretty obvious that the folks at Google didn’t developed Chrome to challenge other browser giants such as Firefox or Internet Explorer. Instead, it has further means. With Chrome, Google is able to create another Internet Develop Platform on Windows, to build a new Eco-system.
Currently, many applications are developed based on the Windows API and it’s an Eco-system which is built by Microsoft. This is also the reason of that Microsoft can control desktops for so many years. Every developer must use the Windows API standard and no other alternatives, otherwise it could not be reached out to users.
Any corporation out there who intends to beat Microsoft in terms of operating system market share must destroy this Eco-system balance first by simply pulling loyal users away from Windows. To reach this tough goal, this corporation must first let developers not depend on the Windows API standard.
Therefore, I think the most important mission of Chrome is to destroy the balance of the Eco-system based on Windows API which is built by Microsoft for many years. The search engine titan must do this first by making Chrome look more attractive for web application developers to give up the Windows API, and develop based on Chrome instead. Next, make use of the power of developers to promote Chrome to ordinary users like you and me, so that let they need not to depend on Windows anymore.
That may be the real intention of Google.
Analysis: Google don’t need to build an Operating System
Many people believe that Google must have an Operating System to win Microsoft. However, I don’t think so. Google need not to develop another Operating System from scratch, and in the present, it’s pretty impossible for any corporation to built a Desktop Operating System which is way better than Windows.
Server-side applications is easy to transfer and convert, and users cannot really feel the difference at all. But in desktop, the story would be different. A desktop operating system without applications’ support means a complete failure. As a result, Google will not make such a silly decision.
Sun used to make use of Javascript to beat Microsoft. However, Microsoft had successfully prevent this disaster from happening. Frankly speaking, the Windows creator is very afraid of Javascript, because if Javascript becomes common, everyone will use Javascript instead of the Windows API. As a result, Javascript will be another better standard to let users give up using Windows. So Microsoft rejected Javascript to be run in Windows directly, and this is the reason why many scripts cannot be run properly in Internet Explorer.
Since Google don’t have any good opportunity to replace Microsoft, the only way it can do is by destroying the Eco-system of it in another smarter method. Apple made the wrong move by putting an operating system fight directly at Microsoft. The main focus of “killing” is to win the hearts of the majority Windows users, but on the other hand not allow users to use another Operating System because users cannot change their habits that easily. Chrome can run on Windows, so users don’t need to change their habits and use the new applications which is developed for Chrome. After a long time, when a lot of users are using Web Applications instead of softwares based on the Windows API, they do not need to use Windows any longer, because Chrome can run on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
Therefore, Chrome may use 5 years to let Web Applications depend on Chrome instead of the Windows API. For example, Google Docs is supported on all browsers, but you may notice that Google Docs is really like a software in Chrome. And I think there will be many applications like Google Docs in the future.
If more than 80% applications can be switched to the Chrome Platform, who will use Windows then? Windows costs a bomb, and it will be no better than others because all the things can be done via Chrome, and Chrome need not to depend much on Windows too.
Linux can be easily changed to your own version, even Mac OS X is written based on FreeBSD (An Open-Source Operating System which has a different license from the GNU Linux). Android is written based on Linux too, Google do not need to start all over again.
