When Canon isn’t making a virtual reality dinosaur exhibit, they have other things to do, like making printers. In fact, they have made three new printers. The PIXMA MP560 has duplex printing, photo correction, and Wi-Fi. There is also a USB port for printing directly from external storage. For example, it can do 4 by 6 inch prints in grayscale at a rate of 9.2 images a minute and 6 images per minute in color. The MP490 (pictured) has a 1.8-inch LCD screen and memory card slots. It is also good for printing photos, and has Auto Photo Fix II software built directly into it. It can deliver 4800 x 1200 maximum color dpi, as well as very fine monochromatic prints as well. The last is the SELPHY CP790 Compact Photo Printer that can hold the paper and ink cassettes, as well as the AC adapter, cable, and optional battery pack. It is made for printing photos on the go, and has built-in creative options like frames, calendars, and other things for that personal touch. It comes with a 3-inch LCD screen to maximize on photo viewing. All three models of these Canon printers should be available later this month. The MP560 will run about $150, the MP490 is about $100, and the CP790 runs about $180.

Leyio data mate

With storage space getting dirt cheap by the day, it is no wonder that we tend to hoard downloaded files and snapped photos like nobody’s business. After all, there’s still plenty of room left to spare on the hard drive, ain’t it? It can get pretty hard to know which file you’ve sent to which portable hard drive, but this is where the Leyio aims to help you get more organized, albeit on a much smaller scale. Flexing 16GB of onboard flash, it’s roomy enough to accommodate thousands of pictures or songs or Powerpoint Presentations or… However, where Leyio departs from your traditional memory devices is in its ability to share. Using Ultra-Wideband radio technology, two Leyios can transfer files between each other at a startling rate of up to 10MB per second. Simply pair them up, select the file you wish to share and then transmit the data from one to the other, with a flick of the wrist. Available in Ice Grey, Pink and Mirror colors, don’t be fooled into thinking this is just another USB flash drive. It even comes with a 2GB USB ’shuttle’ integrated into its case that can be pulled out when you need a smaller USB flash drive on-the-go - just remember to attach it back when you’re done! Leyio also comes with a 1.5″ OLED display that allows you to view its contents without having to boot up your computer, and the biometric thumbprint detector is there for additional security. You can bring home the Leyio for £129.95 today.

Samsung unveils new Spinpoint N3U hard drive

Portable hard drives are dime a dozen, and there are already many players available in the market currently. Samsung aims to be at the forefront with their most recent release, the Spinpoint N3U which will incorporate a native USB controller on its printed circuit board. This optimized design will ultimately result in a much smaller foot print, alongside a greener solution with less power consumption and optimized performance that makes it suitable as a portable external storage device. In fact, the 1.8″ Spinpoint N3U is able to hold up to 250GB worth of data, storing up to 125 Gigabytes per platter. While the majority of other external hard drives will require the addition of a bridge circuit board to convert the hard drive’s PATA interface into a USB interface, Samsung’s latest N3U drive with its native USB interface will do away with the need for such a bridge board. According to Choel-Hee Lee, vice president of marketing Storage System Division, Samsung Electronics, “The new high-capacity 1.8” 250GB drive enhances Samsung’s product offerings and is ideal for consumers who require a small form factor, high capacity data storage. It is easy to carry around and it is designed to withstand a free fall drop of up to 50 centimeters and be resistant to a maximum shock incident of up to 1500G.” 50cm might not sound like much, but then again it is better than nothing. Then again, do always remember to make a backup of your data in any hard drive just in case any untoward incident happens. Using a native USB interface device, the Spinpoint N3U eliminates possible points of failure due to loose cable connections while optimizing performance by eliminating the interrupt service time for the bridge board to convert PATA to USB signals. In addition, the N3U 1.8” drive is eco-friendly as it sips a mere 60% of power compared to a 2.5” hard drive of an equivalent capacity. The Spinpoint N3U will be available in 120GB, 160GB, 200GB and 250GB capacities, with shipping commencing from mid-July onwards with the 250GB model going for $199.

MIMO 720-S Touchscreen Slider USB monitor

MIMO Monitors have released their latest Touchscreen Slider that connects to your machine through USB - the MIMO 720-S monitor. This USB-powered mini-display tips the scales at less than one pound, while boasting foldable characteristics that make it highly portable, boasting full resistive touchscreen functionality that provides netbook users with more visual real estate to play with. With a display size of seven inches, the MIMO 720-S features 800×480 resolution and a contrast ration of 400:1 — offering sharp graphics and clear images with 90 degree pivoting capabilities. The monitor discretely folds into itself with a tiny footprint of just 7″ x 5 3/8″ x 1″. Supporting Windows XP and Vista as well as Mac OS X (with supplemental third-party driver), the 720-S is powered and connected by a single USB connection, providing a secondary screen ideal for holding email applications, download managers, social network clients such as TweetDeck, formatting palettes, stock tickers, instant messengers such as Google Talk and AIM, webcam feeds and much more. Additionally, with the rise in popularity of netbooks, the 720-S serves as a much-needed secondary screen for added display space and shared viewing. It is interesting to note that this portable monitor will cost $229.99 including shipping, and we would only recommend this to those who travel plenty with a netbook. Otherwise, get a notebook with a larger screen size, and for folks using desktops, the same price point can net you more than a decent 18.5″ monitor.

PC Drawer with Locking Safe

For those that often find that they have far less office supplies at the end of the day than they should, might want to find a way to slow down moochers. Although this little safe isn’t something you’d use to hide highly important documents or valuables, it will work for stashing office supplies. With this drawer installed within your PC, you’ll likely have a few less issues with running out of paper clips and pens. Yes, they could get around the lock, but it would take them a lot more work.By the time they would have popped this open, it would have been far faster to just snag some office supplies off of someone else. The drawer itself is meant to fit within unused media slots. You can stash office supplies, personal items and up to 24 CD’s. It claims you can use it as a hidden safe, but it’s questionable as to how effective it would actually end up being. Each of the drawers has two horizontal dividers and two vertical dividers, as well as one CD post. You can purchase one of these drawers for $9.95.
