Search A Recipe With Cookstr

When searching for a recipe to bake Christmas cookies to give to your friends, one will probably flip open his or her recipe book or head to AllRecipes.com to search for the most suitable recipe. But why not change to an alternative source this year? Created by Will Schwalbe, Cookstr is a simple recipe search engine that allows you to find great recipes online taken exclusively from published cookbooks written by celebrity chefs such as Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson and Mario Batali. Each contributers has his or her own mini-biographies which feature a personal profile, featured recipe, latest recipes, restaurants and cookbooks. A simple but yet interesting feature which Cookstr has is the "Surprise Me!" icon you see beside the search bar. By clicking on it, it will bring you to a random recipe on Cookstr, so if you can't think what to cook for dinner, you can use this feature without wasting any time searching. You can refine your search by selecting the cost, skill level, total time, season, mood, method, cuisine, taste and texture, etc. For each recipe, Cookstr provides you a picture of the food, name of the contributors, info, ingredients and food directions. If you like the recipe, you can purchase the cookbook from online bookstores such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders, Indiebound and many more. Searching for recipes is free but if you want to get updates of new recipes, offers and events, you can sign up for a free account with Cookstr. Cookstr was launched in October 2008 and is currently in beta.
